As Webmaster you should be aware of possible copyright violations by using images you donīt hold the copyright of. That means you just canīt post an image that you came across on some website without the ownerīs permission. This is a fact often disregarded when posting pictures on your Blog, Website or Forum for example.
There are, however, a lot of sites that offer "copyright-free" images, that you can use for your Website, without fearing to be sued or whatever. It might be necessary to cite those images coming from the Public Domain, but that depends and usually doesnīt cost you a dime as opposed to "commercial" pictures, like from Newspapers for example. I had that with a german website i was working on, wanted to put a picture from germanyīs biggest newspaper BILD. So i sent them a mail, asking permission to use that picture and they wanted me to pay about 15 Euros for that. Donīt need to mention that i didnīt pay, do i ?
Anyway, these sites are a good resource for mostly copyright-free material, such as pictures, sounds, streams, etc...
